A Pile of Books

Virgulé is a publication that exists in the hybrid space between a poster and an interview. In each issue, Libros Walden invites an illustrator to create an image for the poster and to interview them.

For its launch, Libros Walden invited Luis Vassallo to contribute to its inaugural issue. The two-ink illustration created features a still-life portrayal—a stack of books. Through the spines of these books, the artist and designer celebrate his influences, a blend of references spanning poetry, antiquity, painting, comics, aesthetics, and graphic design.

The resulting piece is a fold-out designed by Maite Zabaleta, which, as you unfold it, allows you to read the interview. When fully unfolded, it becomes a small printed piece accessible to a wide audience.
