Felipa Manuela

Felipa Manuela is an artistic organization that promotes practice and research in the field of contemporary art with a deep social commitment. Through residency programs, publications and public activities, Felipa Manuela promotes spaces for affective and intellectual exchange between agents of different origins.

Based in Madrid, in a domestic space FM took his name form the previous owner, Felipa Manuela Martínez. A widow of the Spanish postwar that survived thanks to her work as a seamstress and a support network made up of other women in the same situation. With this background the graphic identity was built around the typeface Walsheim (Grilli Type), a contemporary interpretation of a 1930 type with a warm and strong character, that allows us to make text-based design connecting the project with the contemporary cultural territory.
