España Color

Cristobal Hara is one of the most renowned photographers in Spain. In 1985, after 17 years of working in black and white photography, Hara made a significant shift in his practice by transitioning exclusively to color photography.

This book is a comprehensive compilation that encompasses various aspects of the photographer’s work, marking the culmination of his ambitious, decades-long project on Spain—a subject, motif, and theme to which he dedicated himself with unparalleled passion and linguistic ambition.

The design of the cover aims to capture both the raw essence of the Spain that Hara photographs and to renew a specific language in photobook design—commonly found in Japan, as well as among early American and European photographers—in which the cover was exclusively composed with graphics.
